Terms for using RateMyApt

1. Using the platform

RateMyApt is a tenant-first review platform. By using it, you agree to keep content accurate, respectful, and based on real experiences.

  • •Browse and search for properties for personal housing decisions.
  • •Save and share links to property pages and reviews.
  • •Submit honest reviews based on your lived experience.
  • •Report content that violates our guidelines.

2. Prohibited behavior

The following actions are strictly prohibited. Violations will result in the immediate removal of the offending content and may lead to permanent suspension of your account, at our sole discretion and without prior notice.

  • •Posting false, misleading, or defamatory reviews.
  • •Posting reviews for properties you have never lived at.
  • •Harassment, hate speech, threats, or targeted abuse toward tenants, landlords, or property staff.
  • •Uploading sensitive personal information or documents publicly.
  • •Copying, scraping, or republishing content without permission.
  • •Automated access that disrupts performance or bypasses safeguards.
  • •Creating multiple accounts to manipulate reviews or evade enforcement.

3. Enforcement and account termination

We reserve the right to remove any review, comment, or uploaded content and to suspend or permanently delete any account that violates these terms. Enforcement decisions are made at our sole discretion and are final. Repeated or severe violations will result in immediate account termination.

4. Disclaimer of liability

RateMyApt is a platform for user-generated content. We do not author, verify, or endorse the reviews, opinions, or claims posted by users. All reviews represent the personal experiences and opinions of the individuals who wrote them.

RateMyApt is not liable for any decisions, actions, or consequences that result from reliance on user-submitted content, including but not limited to housing decisions, disputes with landlords or property managers, or any financial loss. Users are encouraged to conduct their own due diligence before making housing decisions.

RateMyApt is not responsible for the conduct of any user, whether online or offline, and assumes no liability for actions taken by tenants, landlords, or any third party in connection with content posted on this platform.

5. User content and ownership

You retain ownership of the reviews and content you post. By submitting content, you grant RateMyApt a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and promote it within the platform. You represent that your content is truthful, based on your actual experience, and does not infringe on the rights of any third party.

6. Verification documents

Verification uploads are optional and never shown publicly. Only authorized reviewers can access submitted documents, and we delete them on a defined retention schedule.

7. Changes and enforcement

We may update these terms as the product evolves. If changes are significant, we will notify users through the app. Continued use means you accept the updated terms.
